Rakhi Festival is a festival of brother and sister. On this day sister tie a special band called "Rakhi" on their brother's wrist. A Rakhi made up of cotton thread, Silky thread or it can be made up of silver & gold also. And sister prepare the "Pooja thali" with kum kum, chahal, diyas, sweets and rakhi.
Tie rakhi on the wrists of their brother, and wish for their well being. Brothers give gift to their sister. Raksha Bandhan celebrates the bond of love. On this day tasty dishes, wonderful sweets etc.
The Stories behind the Festive
One of the famous stories of Raksha Bandhan from history is of Krishna and Draupadi. Once, Krishna's finger got cut during finger with Shishupal. At that time Draupadi immediately tore off a piece of her sari and wrapped on Krishna's finger. Due to this sisterly loving act Krishna promises to rescue her from any difficulty....

Raksha Bandhan festival is celebrated all over India on the full moon day of Shravan month according to Hindu calendar. Raksha means protection and Bandhan means bond. Thus the bond of protection is called Raksha Bandhan.
